Opponents to the $3.9 billion merger of Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tribune Media are coalescing in a new 15-member alliance being unveiled Tuesday. The Coalition to Save Local Media includes right-leaning programmers, tech industry interests, telecom trade groups and public interest advocates. Its representatives tell POLITICO the coalition will allow a more unified voice before the FCC and Congress.
“I’ve never seen a coalition that is this broad,” said One America News Network President Charles Herring. “Everybody is speaking out.” He said many other conservative news entities — including other coalition members like The Blaze — are voicing concerns.
